Guidelines for the perfect hairstyle for your face shape

Happy Sunday Folks 😊!

I’m sure all you ladies ( and a few gentlemen too) out there would agree that our hair is our crowning glory and has the power to make our days seem good ( if our hair is looking great 😇) and not so good ( if it is looking anything less than perfect 😬). Today, I want to share with you certain guidelines to help you zero in on the perfect hairstyle for your face shape.

There are mostly 9 types of Face Shapes – Oval ( Perfect type as everything suits them ) ; Oblong ; Round; Rectangle; Square; Triangle ; Inverted Triangle (also known as Heart Shape) ; Diamond ; Trapezoid ( also known as Pear Shape ).

1. OVAL – Typical examples would be Sridevi, Shraddha Kapoor and Kiara Advani. All hairstyles n lengths of hair suit them….They are born lucky 😅.Straight , wavy , curly ….everything looks right if their facial features are regular and don’t need to be camouflaged.

2. OBLONG – Typical examples would be Katrina Kaif, Chitrangada Singh and Mallika Sherawat. This Face Shape is longer and thinner than the oval so it needs a lot of volume at the sides ( at the cheek level ) to make it look fuller. Short and medium lengths work best. Longer is good too if it not poker straight hair else it would just stretch the face more lengthwise. So, ideally wavy or with some curls. Bangs too would visually shorten the face.

3. ROUND – Typical examples would be Rani Mukherjee , Aishwarya Rai and Shilpa Shetty. This is what we call a Moon face 😃. Ideally , they should either go in for a very short Pixie cut ( above the ears ) or longer length ….mid length hair will just add more width to their face. They should avoid very straight hair as again it draws attention to the roundness of their bone structure. Waves are a better option. Though, overly curly also would add width so, they need to proceed with caution. Hair cut in layers with the first layer cut till the jaw line ( such that it hides the jaw or roundness there ) would be best.

4. RECTANGLE- Typical examples would be Kriti Shanon, Sandhya Mridul, Gwyneth Paltrow( Hollywood Actor) and Carolyn Murphy ( American supermodel). This face is also very narrow and long with sharp angles so, it needs to be softened with some volume and waves. They always look best in shorter hair lengths which don’t drag the face down further. Any hairstyle that adds volume at the sides ( at cheek level ) is ideal. Bangs too tend to visually shorten the face.

This is all I have for you this week. Will cover the rest of the 5 Face Shapes in my next blog 😊.
